Gas station jerky, especially "big name brands" I won't mention, is oily, thin, and sort of gross. Pat's is thick, not oily, spicy if you choose and addictive! (is that a good thing?).
Great flavor and love the idea of the "tidbits," they're addicting.
Come to think of it, I'm out and need to order more!

Only gripe, is they're a tad expensive, appx $25 for a pound, but it's worth it to me. Plus, since I can't drive to Kansas each time, I have to pay shipping which is also a tad pricy.
We discovered Pat's Beef Jerky while driving home from Denver to Oklahoma in the early 90's. We stop by every chance we get and even get so desperate as to order online and have it shipped. The jerky is moist and chewy with a lot of flavor. Definitely the best jerky I've had.
Really really good beef jerky. Some of the best I ever had. Gave me a card so I could order online and then I found out it was $18 to ship 1 pound. Really? Cheaper for me to buy Another brand in my own town. Not quite as good as paths, but for the Extra $18, I will live. A really disappointed customer.
The BEST jerky around. From Illinois, on a solo road trip, I stumbled across this place on my way southeast to a state park. On the way back I decided to stop on a whim. I've only had occasional luck finding good jerky. Some in Utah, some in Arizona, but local road stands and I never kept track of who they were to order more. This time I have a solid resource for my "fix". I've ordered several times since then and I've not been unhappy in their product; it's consistent!
